Qantas details A380 engine failure costs

Qantas has revealed that the final repair bill for the Airbus A380 that suffered a near-catastrophic engine failure on take-off from Singapore in 2010 will be A$139 million (US$144 million), or more than one-third the catalogue price of a new aircraft.

Qantas has revealed that the final repair bill for the Airbus A380 that suffered a near-catastrophic engine failure on take-off from Singapore in 2010 will be A$139 million (US$144 million), or more than one-third the catalogue price of a new aircraft.


The aircraft is set to return from Singapore to Sydney on April 21, and return to service later in the month, says the Australian carrier.
 

The aircraft suffered an uncontained engine failure after takeoff from Singapore in November 2010.
