Helitech International 2015, hosted 215 exhibitors from around the world, showcasing the latest helicopter technology from the entire supply chain at the event last month. Europe’s largest civil helicopter exhibition enjoyed a highly successful year, with many key industrial players attending, a series of important announcements from a number of companies and an eventful three day Education Programme, as well as the inaugural year for the Learning & Skills Zone.

The exhibition brought together 4,300 attendees over the three days, keen to analyse opportunities and issues in the rotorcraft industry, discover the newest technologies for helicopters, learn about the latest in training tools for helicopter pilots and engineers, as well as view the latest helicopter models from the original equipment manufacturers.

Airbus was showcasing its elegant new H160 helicopter, designed as a top performance, environmentally friendly helicopter. The aircraft is made fully from composites, helping to make it lighter than ever and the reshaped rotor blades and newly tilted fenestron keep noise pollution to a minimum.

AgustaWestland displayed its AW169 helicopter, with a fully functional helicopter kitted out as VIP transportation and a mock-up as an emergency service outfit.  AgustaWestland also announced that Heliservices had ordered an AW169 for offshore mission use.

Waypoint Leasing had the biggest announcement of the show, ordering 20 Airbus H135s and 18 helicopters from AgustaWestland, for a variety of different uses including law enforcement, offshore and emergency medical services.

The Safety Workshop on the final day of the exhibition drew a large crowd, uniting experts in the field to debate and discuss key issues and developments in helicopter safety. Captain Eric ‘Winkle’ Brown, the record-holding test pilot, imparted his experience of preparedness for flight to a packed room, bringing the exhibition to an excellent close.

Helitech International 2016 will be held at Amsterdam RAI from 11 – 13 October 2016.  For more information visit http://www.helitechinternational.com/
